Whole-block selenite from the Gansu deserts, hand-polished through seven grits over a week until the stone's own veins carry the light. Cold to the eye, warm to the hand.

Every Galelux lamp passes through six pairs of hands. We don't use moulds twice, we don't repeat a mosaic, and we don't send a piece that one of us wouldn't want to keep. Each stone is broken, set, and polished by hand until the surface reads like river-stone.

Himalayan salt from a single Tanggu co-op; selenite from the Gansu deserts; basalt from Tenggeli. Named quarries, traceable batches.
Break
Raw stone is hand-broken on canvas with a ceramic mallet. We keep only the fragments that feel right — roughly one in three makes the cut.
Set
Fragments are pressed into tinted concrete in wooden moulds, pattern-by-pattern, by eye. Every mosaic is improvised, never repeated.
Settle
The piece rests undisturbed in a shaded north room until the binder is fully set. No heat, no hurry — the chemistry is not negotiable.
Polish
Each stone is wet-sanded through five grits by hand until the surface reads like river-stone. A solid brass micro-switch is seated last.
